Good morning Ladies and Gents,

I have decided to write about another Style Icon I think you should know about, so lay back and enjoy the read.

The man of the hour, the hot head, the famous hair style, the racer and rebel James Byron Dean was probably one of the most famous actors of all time.

He was born on the 8th of February 1931 in Marion, Indiana. His childhood was filled with countless moves around the country, never spending a lot of time in one place. Furthermore, the early death of his mother and the difficult relationship with his father led him to be raised by his uncle were he moved back to as a teen. Through his eagerness and sometimes “overwhelming personality” he fell for the theater and found his passion in acting. In 1952 he enrolled in to the Actors Studio in New York, where soon after, at the age of 20 he got to play the role of Carl Trask in East of Eden. Through his convincing role the doors of Hollywood were opened where he was considered an Icon of Americas youth. He played in many small dramas and soon returned to Broadway and theater. In 1954 he came back to Hollywood where East of Eden was later screened nation wide. With his triumph, he purchased his first Porsche, a brand new Porsche Spider which he soon after in the Palm Springs Road Races. He was race enthusiast, even winning races and making a name for himself in that criteria too. He loved the adrenaline, the speed and always to be on his feet. In the same month he started shooting for his most famous film, Rebel without a Cause.

Andy Warhol some years later said ” His anguish was genuine both on screen and in life”.

James Dean has one of the most accelerating biographies you will ever read. Both inspiring and tragic. After finishing Rebel without a Cause, he died in a car accident on the highway on route to compete in a car race in Salinas. With only 24 years of age he produced three films in a time span of one year. East of Eden and Rebel without a Cause being the most famous. Joey Hams sums up Dean’s life with this quote: “..There is no simple explanation for why he has come to mean so much to so many people today. Perhaps it is because, in his acting, he had the intuitive talent for expressing the hopes and fears that are a part of all young people… In some movie magic way, he managed to dramatize brilliantly the questions every young person in every generation must resolve.”

Today, James Dean is known by all as a style icon and through his fascinating and convincing charisma on and off screen. The man has literally embodied the idea of the jeans and white t-shirt look. He was often seen with a simple jumper and pleated trousers paired with simple sneaker, a very calming look. Hairstyles were named after him, posters are hanging over ever bed and his style is still a dress routine of every modern man without probably knowing who did it best. His name went through history were men dedicated books and claimed that “without James Dean, the Beatles would never have existed” (John Lennon). His style, nothing special yet completely simple and easy. With his character and life he made the “simple” look fantastic.

The man is an icon of style and character and will always be remembered by his talents and looks. Go and watch the movies to see for your self.
